Training for New and Potential Members
If you’re interested in joining YKSAR, this introductory course provides the foundational knowledge needed to start your search and rescue journey.
Basic Searcher Course
- Description: Covers search techniques, safety, and basic navigation skills.

Open to the Public
These sessions are open to anyone interested in learning about search and rescue or improving their outdoor safety skills.
Note: Public training sessions are available at the participant’s expense.
Baby It’s Cold Outside (BICO)
- Description: Learn cold weather survival skills in this comprehensive online course.
- Details: Self-paced, certificate awarded upon completion
- Cost: $55
Incident Command System (ICS) 100 and ICS 200
- Description: Online courses designed to introduce the principles of the Incident Command System, a framework for managing emergencies.
- Details:
- ICS 100: Self-paced online course, 2-4 hours, $25 fee
- ICS 200: ICS 100 is a pre-requisite. Instructor-led, course length and cost vary by agency offering the course.
